Why Patients Choose Carolina Cataract & Laser Center for Cataract Surgery
Fellowship-Trained, Board-Certified Surgeons

The surgeons who operate at the Center for Advanced Surgery have fellowship training in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery. That depth of specialization is especially valuable for patients with complex eyes, astigmatism, or a history of corneal conditions.

Laser-Assisted Precision

Our surgeons use femtosecond laser technology to perform key steps of cataract surgery with computer-guided accuracy. The laser enables a highly customized procedure planned around your eye's unique measurements.

Real-Time Measurements During Surgery

With ORA (Optiwave Refractive Analysis), your surgeon can measure your eye during the procedure. This extra layer of data helps confirm lens selection and positioning before surgery is finished.

One Team, Start to Finish

From your consultation to your final follow-up, you'll work with the same Carolina Cataract & Laser Center team. You'll never be handed off to an unfamiliar face on the most important day of your treatment.

Don't Let Cataracts Hold You Back

Cloudy vision, glare from headlights, and trouble reading don't have to be your new normal. A consultation is the first step toward clearer sight.

Cataract Surgery Technology at the Center for Advanced Surgery

When Carolina Cataract & Laser Center surgeons operate at the Center for Advanced Surgery, they use two advanced technologies designed to improve precision and help patients reach their vision goals.

Cataract Removal

A cataract forms when the eye's natural lens becomes cloudy, gradually blurring vision and dulling colors. During cataract surgery, your surgeon removes the clouded lens and replaces it with a clear artificial lens called an intraocular lens (IOL). The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, so most patients go home the same day. You'll need someone to drive you home afterward.

Femtosecond Laser

The femtosecond laser performs several of the most delicate steps of cataract surgery, such as creating precise incisions, opening the lens capsule, and softening the cataract so it can be removed gently. Because the laser follows a detailed map of your eye, these steps are highly consistent and tailored to you.

Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA)

Your eye's measurements can change once the cataract is removed. ORA technology measures your eye in real time during surgery, giving your surgeon information to confirm the power of your new lens and fine-tune its alignment. This is especially helpful for patients correcting astigmatism or those who have had previous refractive surgery like LASIK.
