She sees patients for comprehensive eye care at the Ladson and West Ashley clinics. Dr. Braun moved to Charleston in 2016 and has practiced in the Lowcountry ever since.

Ohio State-Trained Doctor of Optometry

Dr. Braun studied Biology at The Ohio State University and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree, then completed her doctorate at The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2012. Her clinical training included externships at Whiteriver Indian Health Services and the Southern Arizona VA Medical Center.

Advanced Training in Specialty Contact Lenses and Ocular Disease

She completed advanced training to fit specialty contact lenses and later joined a multi-disciplinary physicians group that expanded her skills in managing advanced ocular diseases. Her background also includes private practice in both Ohio and South Carolina.

Dr. Elizabeth Braun was born and raised in western Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University where she studied Biology and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree. She continued her education at The Ohio State University College of Optometry, completing her doctorate in 2012. Her training included externships at Whiteriver Indian Health Services and Southern Arizona VA Medical Center.


After graduation, Dr. Braun worked in private practice in Cincinnati, Ohio before making the move to Charleston in 2016. Here, she continued to work in private practice, completed advanced training to fit specialty contact lenses then transitioned into a multi-disciplinary physicians group which expanded her skills in the management of advanced ocular diseases. Most recently, Dr. Braun has provided eye care in nonprofit clinics to children in Title I schools as well as to the uninsured, indigent population of the Lowcountry.

Dr. Braun was raised with a strong belief in helping others. During optometry school, she participated in several trips with SVOSH (Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). After graduation, she has continued her volunteer work with VOSH internationally and also assisted underserved communities with Remote Area Medical clinics in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and South Carolina. Dr. Braun supports our surgical team by providing expert post-operative care to our patients.

Outside of clinic, you can find Dr Braun flying her 1947 Luscombe taildragger, reading, relaxing on the beach and trying out all the great restaurants in Charleston!
